What is a Principal? And how many tenants does your company need in Business Central?

A Principal represents a legal entity in Business Central, or simply put: A client represents a company.

If there are several companies, there is also a separate client for each company in Business Central, because: Each company is required to keep accounts and the books must be kept properly for each individual company. 

In small and medium-sized companies, there is usually only one client. Companies with group structures use multiple clients in Business Central.
